I hope that everyone enjoyed the Solstice. I decided to keep vigil all night in town, and it was a long, cold night, but a good one, and I'm glad I did it. Next year, though, I think I might not be quite such a stickler about spending the whole time outdoors.

I think Christmas and New Years will be pretty anticlimactic in comparison, but that's all right.

I can hope that maybe they won't be, anyway. Not that I expect anything in particular to happen, but I can hope that I'll be spending them similar to last night... or this morning, I should say. I'm still so tired, and I wish I was there, except I do sort of wish his bed was a little bigger. Or actually a bed.

It occurred to me that after break things won't be as easy as they are now. I'm trying not to think about it. A week and a half from now is a week and a half from now. I plan to make the most of all the moments we have between now and then.

Why don't we see what you're feeling up to when you leave? You would certainly be welcome here for dinner and/or dessert, depending on the time, but I understand if being around my extended family is too much.

I've already gotten permission to go up to the school in the evening, so if you're more comfortable with that, then that's what we'll do.

I haven't said anything.

... Would it matter if they did?

No, it wouldn't. But if I come to dinner, I wanted to know how I'm supposed to behave.

Just behave like yourself, however you're comfortable. They don't know now... but Mum's pretty sharp, and if she asks, well, you know I can't lie.

Nor would I want to.

Is it going to cause trouble for you?

My parents will be happy that I'm with someone who makes me happy, and who brings out a better side of me. That's all they'll care about.

Your parents sound like they're pretty amazing then.

They are. I think you'll like them, and I know they'll like you.

I'm sure I will.

I don't want your brother to ruin your Christmas.

His friends won't be there so he won't have anyone he feels compelled to impress by being an ass to me.

But he'll get into it with you, eventually. Because you're with me and he doesn't like that.

Honestly? I don't know if he actually cares what I do or who I'm with, or if he just cares how it reflects on him, and his friends' perception of him.

Bad enough he's got a faery for a brother, worse yet the faery's a fairy. But if his friends don't know... I'm not sure whether he'll get upset or not.

And I don't care. Let him get upset if he wants to. It's my life, and I like you, and if he doesn't understand that then that's too bad for him.

I could try looming over him, see if that makes him think twice. Except I'm not particularly intimidating, despite the height.

I don't want him taking out being upset on you. I don't like to see you hurt.

I can give as good as I get, and you're worth it.

~~But I~~ I'd still rather avoid you having to fight.

Fighting with Rhys is not so much a matter of 'if' but 'when'. If it's not over you it'll be over something else. Don't worry, Peter. They're just bruises.

I'm going to worry anyway. They're just bruises, and it's still your skin they're on.

If he leaves a mark on me, you can kiss me and make it better.
