It would seem that the pool party was not a minute too soon this year. One day later, and I'm not sure anyone would have been in the mood to swim. It's always a shock when things are so damp and chilly and dismal in August.

I know some of you are thinking, "I thought you were the guy who liked the cold." I am. I do. But these past two days haven't been cold enough, and it's so gray. My favorite days are the sharp cold ones in the winter, where the snow's gone all glittery and powdery and the sky is the sort of blue that photographs can never do justice to, but sometimes paintings can.

It probably makes me hopelessly uncool to say that I'm looking forward to school starting up again, but I am. I've been stuck in the house with Rhys and Seren all day, and none of us can agree on anything to watch so there's constant bickering over what movie or what show or just turn it off already.

I don't even have my own room to escape to; Rhys gets pretty angry when I lock him out. He'll be thoroughly glad when I'm moved back into the dorms.

Anyone have any interesting tales of 'What I Did On My Summer Vacation'? Anything good I could come up with would be entirely a work of fiction.

One pan is simplest in my kitchen. I haven't even tried to put something in the oven yet.

But I shouldn't, not if I want people to think of me as something other than a student.

I still have friends in the house, so I'll hang out with people. But I also need to make sure I look like an adult. Even if I don't feel like one.

If adulthood were measured in inches, I'd have been adult in the sixth grade, I think.
